Confidentiality
You may have concerns about the confidentiality of the information you provide to our office. Your personal and business information is important to our business and vital in serving your needs. It is our policy to keep your personal and business matters confidential to the extent permitted by law.
Personal Information and Privacy Policies
The Federal Trade Commission has issued regulations that require tax preparation businesses to provide a statement of their policies.
We handle all information provided by you with the highest confidentiality. Your personal and business information will only be shared with members of our office with a need to know in order to complete the work you have hired us to do.
An example: should a mortgage lender contract our office for a copy of your tax returns or information contained or related to your tax returns, we will ask you to provide authorization prior to responding to any request.
Advisor-Client Privileged Communications
You should be aware all information you provide us during the interview for the preparation of your tax return is confidential, but not protected from the IRS. Privileged communications are limited to non-criminal tax advice on matters before the IRS or non-criminal tax proceedings in federal courts. Although we consider any information you provide as confidential, return preparation appointments are not covered by advisor-client privilege.
If you feel the nature of any information you share requires protected communciations, please tell us so we can discuss your possible need to consult with an attorney for legal advice.
Business Referrals are Welcome
Referrals are important to any service business. Widmer Tax Services, like other professional service firms, relies on satisfied clients as the primary source of new business. When you refer clients to us, you are expressing your faith and confidence in the service our office has and will contiue to provide to you. You may have business associates who need professional tax assistance, or family and friends who struggle to do their own taxes year after year. No matter whom you refer, be assured that their individual tax needs will be looked after in the same professional manner. Since your referrals are generally indiviuals you are acquainted with, you may be assured your personal financial and tax information will not be shared with them.
